Hello there.
It’s been quiet around here, we know. Pearl Girls Productions has been working on a documentary project which you’ll certainly hear about, and, as always, there’s a lot going on outside of TWSSland. People getting degrees, publishing novels, preparing art exhibits, planning events… but we definitely have not forgotten about TWSS!
We have great news– Season 2 of That’s What She Said has fiscal sponsorship from Visual Communications, which means we’ll be eligible to apply for grants! And future donations ($25 and up) will be tax-deductible!
We’re going to start working on TWSS2 later this year. Thanks to everyone who still checks in on us from wherever you are in this big ol’ world, and thanks to those friends who continue to ask and remind us about Season 2. We’ll post more goodies here eventually! In the meantime, mosey on over to Formspring, Twitter, and Facebook to play with us.

New Bible-belt "Reality" Lezzer Show
A new "reality" lesbian show is set to release April 15th. And guess what else? It's set in Texas. The southwest has been scaring me more than usual the past year, so this automatically means the show will [potentially] be more interesting than usual. Did I mention I still miss Gimme Sugar?

On April 15, "the Ladies" are launching a web series that will follow two lesbian couples — Debbie and Dawn, and Kristi and Lauren — as they live out and proud in front of the cameras in the Bible belt.
Series creator Debbie Forth put it like this:
We designed this project to provide a different view of our lifestyle and to give other couples hope that society can accept their love. There are a variety of reality shows that highlight the many differences that exist in heterosexual relationships, but there simply aren’t any that show what lesbian couples endure to stay together. That's What She Said [****]
Oh, the lesbian webseries! The easiest window into media within your own community. If it weren't for the LNF Show (now in its fourth season), I would not have heard the likes of Khaos Da Rapper or Charmain Johnson. And now a new series has hit the ground running in 2010. Pearl Girls Productions brings us its first major production, a new webseries with an all Asian-American cast. Groovy. Quirky. A bit awkward, but absolutely endearing. That's What She Said is about a midwestern lez named Nicole "Nic" Tran who relocates to L.A. after being caught kissing her best friend and shunned by her family. In L.A. she meets a diverse group of friends (Rae-Anne "Rae" Constantino, Babette "Baby" Liu, Leslie Park, and Shin Tanaka), gets thrown into the gay scene there and (you know) drama ensues. So far there are 13 webisodes averaging about 5 minutes each. What I like most about this series is that it boasts women from various ethnic backgrounds, including those from southeast Asia. While she waits for more episodes, Lady gives That's What She Said 4 stars out of 5.

'Spanish Girls Are Beautiful' brings the hazy world of women and weed into sharp focus, with the intersection of urban and suburban New York serving as a backdrop to the story of Taylor and Jayla.
An all female ensemble cast throws down a real picture of two would-be lovers living in totally different worlds. Can love cross the county lines that divides the 'hood from the 'burbs?
The director @ogfunkbandit (tweet her!) is trying to make this into a series.

TAO

She is a talented, dedicated fighter, Black, lesbian , and no, we are not just talking about the author C.D. Kirven. Rather, her creation, TAO (Pronounce TA as the ‘o’ is silent) will be the central character of the first comic book to center around a Black lesbian super hero. TAO is is the child of a Chinese-British billionaire dollar shoe company owner father and an Afro-American dancer mother from Brazil. TAO’s parents were killed when she was young and raised by Monks who trained her in Taoism and the art of Capoeira.
She will be fighting Corporeal, King of the Living Dead, who wants world domination. In order to achieve that goal, he will be using his evil army of spirits to inhabit human beings. These unwilling pawns will be used to do his bidding. TAO’s reason for hating Corporeal and his sidekick Mink is that the two murdered TOA’s love Bliss. TAO is not only on a mission to prevent the world from being overrun by the living dead, but to avenge the loss of the love of her life.
C.D. Kirven will be at Austin’s Comic-Con, which runs from 12 November to 14 November, to support her creation. She is also the co-founder of Get Equal Now, the Lambda Literary nominee for “What Goes Around Comes Back Around”, and the author of short stories she posts to Wattpad. She is also a weekly columnist on Cherrygrrl.com where she writes the column “RUNDOWN”. She is also a regular contributor to Bilerico, ABIENTE magazine, Dallas Voice, Bay Windows, Dallas Post Tribune, San Diego Gay & Lesbian News, KVUE ABC, Telemundo and many others.
At the age of sixteen, Kirven wrote an article about corporal punishment that went over the AP wire. The publicity that it generated ultimately resulted in Texas public schools restricting the use of corporal punishment.
Kirven has done a lot of work with regards to the darker side of the LGBT Community including highlighting the tendency towards racism within the community and the issue of same-sex partner abuse, which she documented via cell phone. Her documentary “The Dark Side of the Rainbow” was featured in several film festivals.
Kirven is a nationally known artist as well with her work appearing at the 2009 Butch Voices Conference in Oakland, CA, and being featured on the December 2009 issue of Curve Magazine. She is also editing her online reality show about her life called SOULPRINT and is currently working on a screenplay and her second book called The Glass Closet.

Fortune Most Powerful Women Virtual Conference [Free]
The Summit is having its 12th annual women leaders conference and Fortune is bringing it to the masses via the web this year. These women are leading figures in business, government, academia, philanthropy, and the arts. As a TIME subscriber, I was able to register free. I'm not sure if it will cost others or if it is closed to others, but it's worth a looking-into.
Viewers will be able to ask questions and chat with one another. It takes place on Oct. 5th. Space is limited, so don't dally!

The LNF Show needs your help!
